I agree with you on the French system, it is about the best. Their costs are far lower, and from everything I've ever read, their results better. But not perfect, they struggle with rising money woes as well. As is common in French Socialist culture, they definitely pushed luxury to the limits. We need more common sense here, not French socialist excesses.

I'm not suggesting we copy it exactly. Adopting the French system and adapting it to U.S. wants and needs seems to me a no brainer.
