I am 66, ready to retire money to retire on. I do have a 401K worth $17000 balance. I have about $10000 in savings. I need advice on where to put any money to good work for my future. Any suggestions?

You may be ready to retire but financially you are not. At a safe withdrawal rate of 4%, you're 401K and saving will generate only $1080 the first year. Since you don't mention a pension, you will need to live on your social security benefits only. Are your living costs below that?
