I am a fairly recent shareholder, but have been a big fan of AMEX for a long time. I agree that a merger with Citi doesn't make much sense for AXP. Unless the senior management is just interested in cashing out, I don't see this merger as providing AXP customers with much of anything. If AXP needs a service, it can partner with a provider.

I don't see AXP as an undervalued company, so Mr. Buffett wouldn't necessarily have much interest. But it would be nice.

I'd like to see AXP get aggressive and beef up its brokerage and money management capabilities.
