I am going to have agree (even more so) regarding the funding of essentially free public education (K - 12) and relatively low cost state supported colleges as well.

To advocate an "educational use tax" is a major big league mistake. Any one who has spent any substantial amount of time outside our boarders will quickly realize that our educational system is potentially our greatest natioanl asset. But for the big "D" in 1933 our unemployment has hovered at roughly 10% on the high side and now 4% on the low side. How is this so? The U.S. is the most literate nation in the world & literacy creates self-worth & national worth; it also keeps people offf of unemployment.

Further, what is the U.S.'s real major product. Well, it certainly isn't cars, cameras or computers. IT IS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. Our school system is the feeder system to our nation's greatest products and an educational use tax would be a crippling blow to the system.

Thus, IMNHO, the individual who views paying a property tax (most of which will go to the K-12 educational system) as immoral, particularly because (s)he doesn't have children is very short sighted indeed.
