I believe that the posters "supporting" CSFB are wrong and acting in ignorance insofar as my own case is concerned (I am one of the Elan 11). However, they are not guilty of slander. I cannot prove that their statements are false because their statements are merely matters of opinion. In my opinion, in turn, their statements are based on incomplete information and ignorance, but this is not defamation, libel, or any other kind of actionable offense.

Good evening Oliver,

I agree with you that a "rush to judgment" seems to have taken place with some of the pollsters, but I also agree that it was not slanderous....they just stated their opinions.

However, from what you told us in post #4505 you and another poster did not use any profanity or call the analyst a criminal, a Nazi or evil. I think we still have a right to hold different opinions in this country, even if some of them are biased. If we have truly lost that right, as TMF Otter implied, than I think we have given up far to much of our personal freedom in an effort to be "politcally correct".

Good luck to you and the Elan Eleven,
