I covered BSX for about 4 years on the sell-side and again on the buy-side. I once made a bet with my co-workers that if BSX management were ever completely forthcoming with investors, I'd eat my monitor on the spot. Although it's now a different management team, I never did have to pay up on that bet...

BSX is a company that prior to the Taxus stent was never particularly good at any one thing -- they built this odd conglomeration of technologies and businesses, but never seemed to know what they wanted to grow up to be.

In any case, the Taxus stent has clearly been a winner, though competition is starting to chip away at that a little bit. Medtronic doesn't scare me much, but JNJ should not be underestimated.

Given some of their newer technologies and recent acquisitions, they certainly have a future beyond Taxus. It's not my cup of tea, but you could probably do well with the stock over a 3-yr horizon buying at these levels.
