I do occasionally drop by, but find little of interest.

I'm actually just a Yooper-wannabe troll, who vacates in God's Country when black flies and mud are not at peak. Jack was the one who worked up there.

The Porcupine Mountains are my favored habitat and Pictured Rocks. A waterfall on the Big Carp trail in the Porkies has been designated the number one skinny dipping spot in the U.S., though the trail was too muddy last year (there's about a mile of swamp to trudge through even on a dry year) to check it out (I've been there many times, just not since I knew it was a skinny dipping spot).

Economically, the UP is a disaster zone, even compared to downstate. I believe the border area with Wisconsin is better. Even there, housing should be dirt cheap. If you have a job and like outdoor activities with little competition (I sometimes see no one on trails for 6 hours at a shot), it can't be beat.
