I don't have a resource, no. The acoustics will be odd, too. If one side is mounted on a beam and the other is free-floating it won't be balanced (i.e. there is nothing to reflect sound from the free speaker). Of course modern receivers can adjust for this somewhat; they generate pink noise from each speaker in turn and adjust for the room. But I would probably mount the other one on a much shorter rod from the ceiling (just enough to clear the beam). The receiver will have an easier time balancing that. Plus it would be rods on both sides, which probably would look more deliberate.

Personally, I would be "OK" with having a nice metal rod coming down the from the ceiling. Maybe painted black. Same as a rod (i.e. stand) coming up from the floor, but people won't trip over that. That's personal preference, of course.
