I don't think jaagu understands the difference between a stock and a bond. Georgia Power is a private company, but is a subsidiary of a public company (SO).

Thank you for educating me on Georgia Power equities. I was wrong to think Georgia Power had its own stock.

But getting back to the main portion of my post regarding the economic issues associated with Vogtle 3&4 plant expansion and other Georgia Power issues:

1. Georgia Power customers are worried about how the currently proposed rate hike will affect their bills.

"State regulators should reject Georgia Power’s bid for a $2.2 billion rate increase over the next three years and allow the utility giant less than half of that amount, staffers at the Public Service Commission are recommending."

2. Georgia Power customers are already paying a monthly line item on their bills to pay for the Vogtle plant’s financing before it’s complete. They have been paying this since 2009.

"According to legislation passed in 2009, Georgia Power shall collect costs related to nuclear construction financing and interest to support the plant’s construction, even though the project failed to meet its operational deadline in 2016.

Collection of those fees, called the Nuclear Construction Cost Recovery tariff, isn’t limited to individual residential or business customers. Georgia Power also assesses those fees against public and government entities, leaving ratepayers to cover their own NCCR costs and pay through their tax dollars as well."

3. Georgia power customers are worried that the Vogtle 3&4 construction keeps costing more and taking longer. We should hear about the new cost and schedule in the near terms.

4. Georgia Power customers are worried that once the new reactors come online in 2022. Then the multi-billion-dollar price tag of these new Vogtle reactors will be added into their electric rates.

Do you care to discuss these economic issues?
