I don't know what OSB is.

Oriented strand board. Looks like large flakes of wood glued together to make a 4' x 8' sheet of wood. Similar to plywood. I bet you've seen it but just didn't know the name.

Might not work for this project, but if there are any storage shed construction companies near you, you can often get their scraps of lumber for free - 2 x 4s, 2 x 6s or 2 x 8s in up to 2' lengths.

They're usually smaller pieces, more appropriate for crafting or small repairs, but they come in handy. We use them as kindling in our wood stove.
