I don’t understand the rationale for why one would use a .22 for a TEOTWAWKI rifle. Simply too underpowered. Sure, 7.62x51 or 6.5 creedmoor or such is more expensive but it works, on most anything, at about any visual range. Nobody hunts deer, or people, with .22. A 9mm pistol round, generally considered on the low end of acceptable in terms of energy carried by the bullet, has about 2.5x the muzzle energy of a .22lr.
