I figures that there is something less than 50 bucks worth of ingredients in that pie, me. - voelkels


No doubt. Hershey sold the pies at a profit for $44.95 IIRC.

Ingredients are probably less than $5. Weighs about three and half pounds. I can buy PB retail on sale for 99 cents a pound. Chocolate costs more of course so I estimate I could buy the ingredients at retail for about $6 or $7. But Hershey is buying both in massive quantities at wholesale. This has to be highly profitable for Hershey so I am surprised they limited production to 3,000 pies.
