I find that my feelings towards my job vary wildly. Right now, I depise my job. I hate going in to work and the whole ordeal of it is making me truly miserable. In times like these, I see if there is anything else out there (and I am looking pretty hard). This is especially true because I anticipate many of us being let go before long. (The overall mood at the company is grim.)

Still, there have been times that I have liked this same job a lot. I have worked on great projects and had some excellent, original ideas and feel like I've made a difference. Those are (I think) the times that work is best. Decent pay helps but it can't - by itself - make me love or even like a job.

I have had other times when I have disliked my present job (I am in my 7th year of it).

Most of my friends agree. Feelings about one's career/job tend to be cyclical in nature for most people.
