I graduated from college in 1969. I hardly "came to power" then. I'd just landed my first job and I was at the leading edge of the Boomers. I didn't retire until 2007. I'm a life member of the Sierra Club and worked to get Wilderness Areas declared East of the Grand Canyon. (In joke: when a friend asked about Eastern Wilderness, the California folks said they'd looked at the Grand Canyon<g>.)

Unfortunately, you are in the minority of the Boomer generation. I suspect you would agree with that. Trump is more representative of the majority Boomer---self-indulgent, selfish, no sense of accountability, an unwillingness to sacrifice for the greater good. Keep in mind that like Trump, one of the first adult acts for the majority of white, male Boomers was to use privilege and a "rigged system" to avoid the Vietnam War, sending the patriotic, the working class, and a disproportionate number of people of color to fight and die in their place. That turned out to be more the rule than the exception as evidenced by consistent Boomer disdain for the national debt and environmental problems they are passing on to the next generation.

The Institute of Family Studies is a conservative think-tank. One of their own declared that "The Baby Boomers ruined America". You can read it here: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/06/boomers-ar...

Paul Begala is a liberal democrat. He made clear his disdain for this own generation, declaring it the worst generation. https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a1451/worst-generation...

It is why the meme of the moment is "OK, boomer", a derogatory dismissal of a generation that continues to disappoint America. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OK_Boomer
