I grew up in a family wherein mild fasting from time to time was normal, a part of our culture on both Mom and Dad's sides of the family. Feasting was really feasting, but as a rule was matched by fasting. Most days I sit down quite hungry and then leave the table sated but not full unless genuinely FEASTing!

Not one of my ancestors died of heart or circulatory problems. Most died in wars, of "old age", or obscure cancers.
