I guess atheists and Buddhists are safe, then?

The whole idea of the Rapture is based on a misunderstanding of the book of Revelation. Revelation is a book about the end of Rome, not the end of the world. John (probably not the apostle John) wrote the book using symbolism to avoid persecution. He's calling on God to punish Rome for persecuting Christians. The style of the book was a style that was popular during the first century. It's similiar to our fantasy literature. Everyone in the first century knew what the symbols meant. The seven headed beast is Rome because Rome was built on seven hills. The numbers "666" meant Nero, because in the first century letters could be numbers and numbers could be letters. There's a pretty good book about it called "Worthy is the Lamb" by Ray Summers.
