I guess I'm just too foolish to make good use of the retirement calculators on the web. Yours, for instance, has entries for everything under the sun, and told me I needed to save 12,000 per month for the rest of time. I'm sure this means I filled it out wrong. However, I'm not going to spend another 10 minutes figuring out which box is incorrect.

Don't feel bad - while the calculators can be useful, I have found that I do better with my trusty excel spreadsheets. There is a downloadable spreadsheet on intercst's retire early page that sounds like it would have what you need - I have been using the "Gen-X" version of it in conjunction with the other budgeting/planning spreadsheets I have built over the years and I have found it to be quite useful.

I have had a few of the calculators out there give me some goofy answers as well - quicken's told me that I would have to work until I die - and no way am I doing that!
