I guess it is better to receive the flowers than push them up.

Indeed. A 72 year old member of my running club is currently recovering from his 4th open heart surgery. Lots of replacement parts in the heart, and this time it's slower to get to where he can run again. But on the bright side, his doctor told him that if he hadn't been in such good shape from running, he'd be dead.

FWIW, the 3rd open heart surgery happened because he had some high tech toys document stuff wrong with his heart other than just "getting old." Indirectly, that's a side effect of being a runner; he says he would have been pushing up daisies if he hadn't had the data to convince the doctors it wasn't just age.

Throw that story at all the people who say running will kill you.
