I had a discussion with the father of a student from Singapore who attends college at one of New England's top schools. It involved that the air route from Singapore to Narita (Tokyo) and then to Boston was safer than the one to Boston by way of Dohar (which was judged to have more passengers traveling from Pakistan and India).

We are now forced to consider more than just the length of time of a flight, but the specifics of the route as well.
