I have an opportunity to increase my 401K investment from 12% to 20% of my annual salary. I'm not sure I should be putting all my money in the 401K. Can anyone give pros and cons of doing this or suggest another retirement investment option ?

The biggest "pro" IMHO is the tax-deferred saving for your ultimate retirement on a disciplined basis. The biggest "con" is the lack of investment choice in most 401k plans, which consist overwhelmingly of mediocre mutual fund selections.

The other factor to consider is any company matching $$. It's hard to turn down free cash.
