I have arranged for money to be transferred from ING Direct to my checking account to cover my tax bill. Unfortunately I screwed up and didn't request the transfer until Friday, April 12. The money will probably be there by the 16th or 17th. If Monday weren't the deadline, I'd wait to send the amended return and the check until the money landed in my checking account. But Monday IS the deadline.

I can tell you never mailed a letter to Mom to your landlord then called a few days later to say, "My mother says she got a check made out to you from me." (Good only once per lease)

Mail the return and check on Monday. Consult your legal advisor if you like, but IMO this is not kiting, since the funds will be in your account, in all likelihood, before the tax check is even deposited, let alone makes it back to your bank.
