I have no idea if Mr Pagliaro, my 8th grade social studies teacher, the one who covered civics, was liberal or conservative. My school district as a whole, hmmm, heavily Jewish NYC suburb, but also a union-free school district. I remember learning about the complexities of our govt, about checks & balances and the Electoral College. I remember thinking what a huge benefit it grants to low-population states against high-population states such as the one in which I lived then.

Then you didn't learn it properly. It's not Mr. Pagliaro's fault you weren't paying attention to WHY we have an Electoral College.
