I have Xfinity HD and an RCA stereo system. The HD box has two Digital Audio outputs, one is fiber and the other is coax.

The stereo has two Digital Audio inputs, fiber and coax.

Question: If I have a station selected on Xfinity, should I be able to use these Digital Audio outputs and inputs to hear the Xfinity through the stereo? (without having the TV on).I can't. I've got to use RCA jacks between the two. Any ideas?

Thanks, Jim

The problem may be in the stereo receiver. It’s unlikely the HD box’s TOST and coax are both faulty (check to make sure when the TOST is in there’s a red light coming out the other end) so it may be the stereo inputs are not recognized.
However the stereo is receiving a composite signal from the HD. That’s puzzling.

Do you have another component (DVD) that has either a TOST or coax output so to check the stereo?
