I know that will have some adverse effects on my credit score

If you close the account, will your overall monthly utilization be above 10%? If not, then it is likely to have little/no effect on your credit score. If your overall utilization will be above 10%, there will potentially be some impact - the higher the utilization, the larger the impact.

If, by closing the account, your utilization will increase above 10% on a regular basis, then you may want to see if you can get some of your other credit limits raised before closing this account, so that you will minimize the impact.
