I live in Wildwood in west St. Louis county. Far suburb of St. Louis. But my family's Missouri homestead is in North Central Missouri on the edge of the Audrain Co. Grand Prairie. So development of prairie grasslands if of interest.

We have family stories of fighting a prairie grass fire. Driving across fields to train stations etc. My ancestor came from New York and brought his young bride to Missouri right after the Civil War. They say there was still prairie grass in the area until about 1900.

Audrain Co is Missouri's top corn producer. Also the location of the Laddonia Ethanol Plant. I still have cousins who farm. Both my parents were farm kids.
