I nominate Bingocards for Feste.

Bingocards's posts are a truly remarkable combination of sound advice, humor and writing that is truly a form of art. There is a reason that many many people have suggested that he write a book.

As many may know, Bingocards is a young American engineer living in Japan and he often writes posts that flow from that experience.

When I went to find posts the problem was that there were so many that I wanted to list here! Ah, well, here's a few (but I commend the rest of them to you).

For example, this post about travel advise for Japanese traveling to America:

About life in Japan as an American:

A wonderful post showing his sense of community and caring:

A not so uplifting story:

As well as posts about his family, but with some of his wisdom sprinkled in:

Hi. I don't know what Feste is or who Bingocards is, but I found the posts you listed very interesting.

One question, though, to help me understand the context of some of the posts. Are you saying Bingocard's parents are Japanese and moved to U.S., where Bingocards was born and grew up? And now Bingocards has moved to Japan to work? For the context of his posts, I'm trying to picture if Bingocards looks like most everyone else on the street in Japan or not.

Again, I found the posts very interesting. Thanks for posting them.

Bingocards is apparently very tall, American-born, not of Japanese descent, American citizen, engineer, Catholic, working in Japan for the past few years. He has worked hard to become fluent in Japanese language and culture. Apparently, he is sufficiently fluent that when someone cannot see him, they assume he is Japanese -- and can be quite startled upon actually meeting him in person.

Bingocards also gives really good advice to people who are trying to deal with their credit card companies and with the collection agencies. He has gone to the length of writing out many sample letters that folks can send to their companies (CC or collections). These detailed letters cite the specific laws governing how lenders and collections agancies can contact debtors and are extremely helpful for people struggling with handling these communications on top of their debt.

Cool. Now I'll have a clearer picture as I read his posts. Thanks!

And he looks like a big panda.
