At Wendy BG's kind suggestion, I'm writing a seperate thread nominating Mungofitch (Jim) for the 2008 Feste Award to encourage others to speak to his outstanding accomplishments if they wish to do so.

Jim has been a stalwart at three Boards again this past year; Falling Knives, StocksB/Berkshire Hathaway and Mechanical Investing. The frequency, range and intellectual depth of his posts earned him first runner-up status for this award in 2007. His contributions in 2008 were even more prolific, thought provoking, well-reasoned and wide-ranging this past year. Further, Jim has a demonstrated gift for explaining or illuminating often murky or difficult concepts, research and observations in a way that simplifies them, generally always with a dollop or two of whimsy thrown in.

In 2008 alone, Mungofitch has unselfishly shared his expertise on several hundred posts on a large range of issues. Here's three posts from each Board in 2008 that typify Jim's talent and multi-faceted contributions:

Falling Knives; (Responding to a question from Wendy BG)

StocksB/Berkshire Hathaway;

Mechanical Investing:

Since late August 2001, Jim has posted 4,278 times or roughly an average of 50 times a month. He's received over 25,000 rec's---astonishing recognition of his talents and unselfishness from his Fellow Fools---given how prolific, insightful and wide-ranging his posts are on several Boards. His financial acumen, demonstrated desire to share with all over the past nearly 8 years, wit, range of interests, coupled with unmatched fundamental and technical analysis places Jim above all peers.

This year, 2008, its only (finally) fair and appropriate to move him from First Runner-Up to First!

Mungofitch (Jim) for 2008 Feste Award.
