If anyone has bought the book or downloaded the Kindle version, I would be happy to learn a summary of what Gore says about nuclear power on pages 354-55.

Apparently, Gore does not make many positive comments regarding nuclear energy.

In the climate change section entitled "False Solutions," Gore expresses some skepticism on nuclear power, and writes the following:
There is still a distinct possibility that the research and development of a new generation of smaller and hopefully safer reactors may yet play a significant role in the world’s energy future. We should know by 2030.

But, as Robert Wilson notes in the link above, the Clinton-Gore administration shut down research into advanced reactor designs almost 20 years ago.

In 1994 the Clinton-Gore administration shut down work on the Integral Fast Reactor, the very type of reactor Gore is complaining about being years away. If this decision had not been made we would not be looking at new reactors by 2030, but instead new reactors up and running right now, and also capable of running on nuclear waste.

So, what we have here is Al Gore using a situation he helped bring about as a reason to be skeptical of nuclear power.

This reminds me how the anti-nuclear zealots fight and fight against the development of the Yucca Mountain waste repository. Then, when the project was indeed killed, those same zealots loudly complain "They don't know what to do with the waste!"

So Al Gore thinks nuclear energy is a "False Solution". And every year I watch how the global atmospheric CO2 concentration keeps going up and up at an ever increasing rate.
