I read the thread and did download the document - thanks!!! I have some questions, though:

1) I REFINANCED my home this year. I meet all the conditions except the "build or buy" point under the Points section (page 5) of the IRS documentation. Does this mean that points paid to REFINANCE do not qualify or must be amortized?

2) I refinanced a loan that I'd originally paid points on. I honestly don't know if I'd amortized the original points or not, we purchased in 1998, and I don't know if we deducted the points or not that year.

3) I'm using TurboTax and I entered the information in, but it doesn't seem to want to allow me to take the deduction, should I just accept that and move on?
