I really did turn on 'Home Sharing' on the Macbook in question (through iTunes)...when I look at iTunes on my iMac, I see the computer in question in the 'sharing' tab, but when I then go to the ATV, the only computer that shows up is my iMac…


Are either of your Macs currently connected via Ethernet?

Theory: One of the Macs (probably the iMac) is connected over both Ethernet and Airport, making it part of two different networks.

If the MacBook is on network A, and
the AppleTV is on network B, and
the iMac is on both, then
you'd get exactly the behavior you describe.
