I see differences in the NYSE and the Nasdaq numbers. If nasdaq is bullish and NYSE is bearish would it be wise to go long with qqq, where as if the NYSE were bullish and the Nasdaq was bearish it would be better to invest in Daimonds or Spyders?

Those are short term indicators more suited for the trader. A chart would give you a better answer to that question than a shortterm indicator. Check out the CANSLIM board and William ONeils book "How to Make Money in Stocks". His CANSLIM method is excellent for investments. BTW QQQ is a heavy trader stock and very volatile.
