I should point out that I save up a bit before I buy each lot. I try to buy at least $200 worth at a time (expenses and all below 2%, you know).

If you intend to purchase six different stocks each month, it would probably be worthwhile to sign up for their standard plan. It costs $12/mth, but you get six commission-free trades so each trade really only costs you $2. Again, dividends are reinvested for free.
