I so admire the postings of Loki (that's what Charlie calls you) and Charlie, and have learned so much from the recent discussion of capital perservation and growth, that I'm loathe to see it deteriorate into personal invective. Although at 66 I may be older than either, it's a bit like seeing your two older brothers fighting.

Please keep up the literate, well reasoned posts so we can all benefit from your collective wisdom. Most old maxims have a ring of truth. "That's what makes horse races" seems to apply.

I have a fair amount of training and experience with statistical analysis, and I enjoy constructing spreadsheets, but none of my education included any financial training, so I'm learning a lot from these boards and reading the books recommended by members of the boards.

db, ph.d.
In admiration of both of you.
