I strongly second the nomination of platoish (Stan) for the Feste Award. His three posts on Rofin-Sinar (post ID's 22974867, 22987891, and 23016207) are the best explanation of a technical business I have ever read on these boards - technically accurate and yet easy to read, humorous, and self-deprecating. The award is supposed to honor someone who contributes to the educational mission of "Learning Together" of TMF. These posts alone exemplify that. Add in his many posts (mentioned elsewhere on FARO, FORM and others, and I figure he is a shoo-in.

Somewhere above my reply, someone grouses a bit that platoish mostly posts to the HG boards. I don't see anything in the Feste Award description that suggests the winner must be someone who posts only (or mostly) to the "free" boards. The idea is to honor the poster who most contributes to the mission. Besides, Stan DOES post to other boards (recently, JCOM, for instance).

Go, Stan!
