I think Amazon is hoping people try and buy a few books with their iPhones/iPod Touches, and discover they like it enough to buy a Kindle, and ultimately many more books - ultimately locking them into the Kindle platform and DRM media, forever, ala iTunes.


Fine with me. The Kindle for iPhone app is free, which means the cost to try it out is just the cost of the book, whereas the cost to try it out on the Kindle 2 includes the cost of the hardware.

I tried reading ebooks on my Palm. It was okay, but I haven't read ebooks since. This will be my first in a few years.
