I think everyone has to learn to trust their own judgement. That is the only way they will be successful. However, most people need a starting point. The good thing about Lo's style is it is simplistic and risk averse. I also truly believe her intention is to give people the tools to learn how to trade and move them on. She doesn't make wild claims--use 50 million indicators that tell you nothing--she doesn't need people to subscribe or anything.

Why read a "guru's" newsletter? Why not just become educated in the fundamentals of technical analysis and chart market direction yourself?
