I think my baby daughter is the cutest baby in the world. I think my wife is the greatest wife in the world. I can think both those thoughts without having to conclude that other people's babies are ugly, or that their wives are awful. I can even hold those opinions while recognizing that, in some measures, other people's babies might be cuter in many respects, and that most other wives are better for their husband than my wife would be for those husbands (though she's the best for me).

One can love one's country without disparaging the rest of the world, or denigrating the opinions of the billions of people who are not Americans. I think that's the message that people were trying to send you, SGIZ1. One can be patriotic without being nationalistic, and one can love one's country without asserting that others are inferior.
