I think the profit was calculated excluding
charges coming from aquisitions.
They made a profit of 11 cents per share without
taking the aquisitins into account.
With aquisitions they made a loss of 7 cents per share.
That has nothing to do with "magic". Aquisitions don´t come along every week and so Yahoo first states that under "normal" conditions there is a profit. It´s right that these aquisitions reduce the profit but they will hopefully increase the profits in the years to come.
