I think you are missing the fact that the US taxes it's citizens and resident aliens on worldwide income

Man, can I confirm that. When I worked overseas for several years, the IRS dinged me on my all the stuff that the company provided (car, housing subsidy for higher COLA area) counted as taxable benefits.

To the OP, *Belize* may not tax you, but if you remain a US citizen, the US will tax you. If you find a way to get out of paying US taxes, make sure that it's worth forgoing any US benefits you may have built up (Medicare, Social Security) that go with that.
