I, too, am a newbie at GG.

Been trying to follow BB's fat pipes series and make gorilla assessments there.

In the area of wireless networking, AFAIK, not only 802.11 but also Bluetooth and HomeRF, are all public standards. Therefore, in my view, the "proprietary, open standard" that I think really is needed for a Gorilla is missing.

I'm interested in this area at this point mainly 'cause it's way cool technology. My thought is that while the low-level chipset implementations might be commoditized due to their being a public standard, that might be one piece of a value chain, and there might be Gorillas elsewhere in that chain, thinking maybe in the software, perhaps.
