I watched the first part of the newly released History of the Eagles documentary on Showtime, two hours worth, tonight (technically last night) and thought of you. Tonight is the rest, one hour I think. The first hour of last night’s two is mostly about the whole southern California scene especially around the Toubadour and its sister clubs, including stories and great footage of Glenn Frey and Don Henley joining Linda Ronstadt’s band and backing her, Bernie Leadon with Dillard and Clark and the Flying Burrito Brothers, Frey’s early songwriting collaborations with J. D. Souther and more. Well done and most enjoyable.
Oooo, that sounds good. I wonder if a get Showtime? I get alot of channels i never watch because i have HD tv for the Blackhawks games and they make you get a certain package. I'm like you, the Eagles were never on the top of my list but i like some of their stuff. My skin starts crawling when i hear Witchy Woman <g>. I go through phases with music. I remember i went through a phase where i liked AC/DC in highschool, i remember i traded someone Supertramp Breakfast In America for Back In Black, then i remember touring Wisconsin colleges as a senior with my friends and listening to The Who, then mid college i went through a Pink Floyd phase, and then the end of college Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. Of course college was also a time of listening to alot of alternative bands, Echo & The Bunnymen, REM, The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, etc. In conclusion, Eagles not my favorite, but still good.
