I wonder if they registered their car(s) in NY to escape the CT property taxes? I knew a couple of people living in CT who had more modest vacation properties in upstate NY who's cars had NY plates. One showed up for his last day working for the same company where I worked driving a Ferrari with NY plates. Some years later he was in elected state office and trying to get nominated for governor.
