I work as a storeman at work sometimes- fill in when someones on holidays. Recent takeover and buying activity by Howard Smith & Wesfarmers including the takeover of Howard Smith by Wesfarmers resulted in about 5 of our separate suppliers coming under the Wesfarmers umbrella- Atkins Carlyle Industrial Supplies, Alsafe, OPSM's Protector Safety, Blackwoods & one other I can't think of at the moment. Anyone please feel free to correct any inaccuracies.
Not sure how big a piece of the pie industrial supplies are to Wesfarmers but consolidation of 5 different businesses would be obviously expected to bring about significant backroom and distribution savings as well as scale advantages eg freight costs etc.
just an opinion- any others.
