I would add that part of the reason for getting your taxes done by a professional is so they can discuss /explain the reasoning with the IRS.

Thanks. I think I will tell her to ask the preparer some more questions. I know that she's using a tax professional, but I think it's more like one of those H&R Block type tax services, so maybe that's why she's getting different answers from different people.
