Frankly, your inability to articulate your view point is not a short coming on others to understand....

GAAP profits in this conversation is not introduced by me.. but by Jim. Nothing is shameful than repeating one's own words over and over... still, the central point I made which pretty much everyone ignored is...

IBM started with Watson on 2000 and touted by the company as the future, here we are after 8 years, Watson is laying off people and Alexa which came almost 4 years later has sold 20M+ units.

The myopic focus on GAAP profits has deprived IBM from capitalizing the opportunity of Watson. On the other hand Amazon ignoring short-term profits has allowed Alexa to be a close competitor to google on search (voice search), almost challenging google's moat.

The fact is your inability to understand this central point is what driving the conversation to useless GAAP profits meme. That's why I said GAAP profits is not the only thing investors and management should focus.

It is really not that difficult concept to understand either...
