I would wish that some tax-free mutual funds that loaded up on P.R. debt suffer some consequences, even if its just shareholders walking away from those funds (maybe even from the families of such funds).

Sometimes, stuff that looks like junk or stuff that's on the way to junk can turn around. GE Capital's bonds have rallied substantially since the end of last year and the beginning of this year. One had one's choice of 6% YTMs across the maturity spectrum for a while.

While I do think the turnaround is due to GE-specific factors, the junk bond market as a whole appears to have rallied over the same time frame.
