I wouldn't delay the move

Why move it at all? Someone suggested Vanguard's index fund. That is basically what the Thrift Savings Plan C fund is. Doesn't make sense to me to move from one total stock market index fund to another total stock market index fund. TSP also has a bond index fund, a treasury fund and will soon have small cap and international index funds available. Expenses are about as low as you can get as well.

you're not required to move the money. If it were me, I'd let it sit in a blend you are comfortable with, do your research, and decide if commercial funds are really better when expenses, loads, managers fees, etc., are all factored in. If you find a good one that beats the TSP, by all means move your money.
