I recently changed banks: closed the old account and opened a new one elsewhere. I did this on the first of the month, on the date, unfortunately, that the direct deposits are made, so I didn't get the deposit at either bank. Not knowing where my money was, I called the old bank and they in effect said, "you closed your account so we don't care".

So I called the VA. Contrary to what I expected to be a day-long wait, my call was answered immediately, and the man I spoke to informed me that when my deposit was denied by the (old) bank, they immediately mailed it to my address of record, and I should expect it any day now. After verifying my personal data, he made the necessary changes for my direct deposit, and I was done in less than five minutes.

As said above, I was blown away.
