I'm quite liberal and always have been, but I question whether two people who can't muster better wages should be reproducing in the first place. HH income of $62k is approaching the median ($67.5k)--surely a couple with almost median income feel free to have a child or two!Ummm...should?!? Well, I might think people "should" vote DEM, and should support choice, climate change mitigation, pollution mitigation, and a robust safety net...but the world isn't the way it "should" be according to moi. PS--I was working poor when I had my kids...not even this close to median. Turned out alright. DD has a PhD (but makes about median income at a non-profit that researches global poverty and related issues...IIRC she's working on a project in Liberia about inexpensive ways to get more protein into young children, and a project in Bangladesh re microeconomics). DS has a BS, is a science teacher, and makes about the same. He took a year's leave of absence this year, living off the crafting he & his GF do (they made almost $2k at a craft show the weekend before last!). The 2020-2021 school year left him burned out/fried/miserable about returning. So he didn't. I note that DS has over $100k in savings in case of months where they fall short.
