I've been a fan of Cognex (CGNX) for about the last two years. It's not exactly a household name, because they sell to businesses and not consumers.

But the products perform a very useful service to an automated factory and they service many industries from automotive, to consumer electronics to life sciences.

An experienced management team, led by original founder (now Chairman) Dr. Bob Shillman and CEO Robert Willett have proved themselves to be excellent at capital allocation - they have made some key acquisitions and have no debt on the balance sheet - plus execute operationally. They almost always give guidance for the upcoming quarter, and usually beat it.
